Tailgating Policies

UMass Official tailgate policies:

1. Tailgating is permitted four hours prior to the game and for 90 minutes when the game is completed

2. All tailgating activities must end at the start of the game. Tailgating may resume for 90 minutes after the game ends.

3. Fans who do not enter the stadium area at the start of the game will be asked to leave.

4. All drinking games and kegs are prohibited.

5. Please be sure to clean up your tailgate area and respect the fans around you.

6. All beverages consumed during the tailgate event must be consumed from cans or cups; no glass containers, funnels or similar devices will be allowed.

7. University regulations and state statutes on drug and alcohol consumption will be enforced.

8. UMass reserves the right to remove any fan who does not comply with the UMass tailgating procedures.

Stadium Information

McGuirk Alumni Stadium has served as the home of Minuteman football since 1965. Capacity: 17,000. The Minutemen have claimed 16 Yankee Conference or Atlantic 10 Conference titles since its opening. The stadium hosted its first game on September 25, 1965, with UMass beating American International College, 41-0. The stadium was officially dedicated on October 16, 1965, when UMass defeated Rhode Island 30-7 in a Homecoming contest. Along with the football team, the UMass women's lacrosse team plays its home games in the facility. The Minutewomen won their first ever game to be played in McGuirk on March 10, 2007 when they defeated Albany 15-7. The stadium is also the site of UMass' graduation ceremonies, and hosted the 1987 NCAA women's soccer championship.
