General Overview
The track is located on a beautiful island located in the Saint Lawrence river. You are allowed to bring a cooler with food and drink to the site. General Admission gets you access to a few viewing areas around the track where you can plant your chair and watch. However, the real views are from the Grandstands, which offer a hard metal seat that is yours the entire weekend of the race.
The island also offers a lot of green space which you can use to lay down in the shade and grab a snooze between thunderous engine sounds, or you can always visit the other island nearby and go to La Ronde amusement park.

How To Get To Gilles Villeneuve Circuit Tailgate
The track is located on an island, but luckily you are in Montreal, so that means you can get there easily. You can drive to the track and park on the island for a modest fee or like most Montrealers, take the Metro to the island! The Metro drops you off right by the track. This is a popular option for getting to the track, and you'll see this when you are surrounded by hundreds of fans going to the track! My suggestion... take the Metro.
Oh, and if you are the oil rich tycoon type, you can also anchor your giant yachts at the nearby marina.

Parking Information
Parking is located on the island for a modest fee. It can take a long time to leave the area after an event due to the large quantities of cars. Take the Metro instead unless you really really have to.
Tailgating Policies
People at an F1 event in Montreal are very happy people. The atmosphere is a pleasant one, as we all enjoy the ultimate in motor sports in the summer sun.
You are allowed to bring in coolers with your own drinks (yes booze too! yipee!) and food as well as chairs. Flags and such are also allowed however your next door neighbor may have a polite request to get it out of his face. Be respectful, and it will all work out.
Back on the main island of Montreal, the downtown area is also a great party for all who love motor sports. The area around St-Catherine between Crescent over to even as far as Mansfield and further east are packed with people and expensive cars showing off in the sun.

Track Information
The track is surrounded by water and green areas, making for a great place to walk around. There's usually some breeze coming off the river to help cool you down in the hot summer sun.
There are tones of concession stands selling food, expensive t-shirts, and other trinkets. Since you can bring your own food and drink, it helps to offset the relatively expensive tickets you payed for.

Food and Drink
Bring your own! Beer, water, whatever you want! You cannot BBQ on the island, however there are concession stands that sell those 8 dollars burgers that may or may not at some point have been near or part of a real cow.
There have been some pretty inventive drink setups in the grandstands!
Also, since you are in an awesome city, keep in mind that you can buy beer in local convenience stores as well as groceries stores until 11pm at night. You'll have to taste a bit of the Montreal nightlife after that (last call is at early into the morning).

Lodging
Reserve early, as in, at the end of this years race, reserve for next year immediately. Hotels tend to get all booked up and fast for the race. Do not make the mistake of getting a hotel room in some inconvenient part of town. The decision for a good hotel can go a long way and keep you close to an awesome party.
Local Attractions
It's Montreal!!! During the summer!!! The whole city is a massive party most of the summer day in and day out. This is why I suggest staying downtown. Not only will you be near the Metro so you can get to race, but you will be able to stay close to the after parties throughout the city.
One Mile Radius
One mile? Why stop there! Go nuts!
